Albert & Patti

On Saturday even the rain couldn't put a damper in Albert and Patti's wedding. They had an intimate ceremony in Magrath, and thankfully (since it was pouring outside at the time) the church had some beautiful spots for photos! Jan and I had a great time with this couple and their bridal party all day... and thank you to Ryan from Executive Limo for bringing some umbrellas for the group!

We'd like to thank the two of you for letting us take part in your day!

A rainy Saturday and a large family!

We spent some time this past Saturday having a blast with a great family of twelve plus three dogs. Our intention was to be outdoors in the river bottom, but since the rain decided to grace us with it's presence once again, we had to bring the party indoors>

Thank goodness for our huge studio space! It makes days like these not bad at all :)

Baby Gavin

We are proud to help Kareena and Jeff announce the birth of their adorable baby boy Gavin. He was born just 10 days ago and is the sweetest little guy ever. We did his newborn session today and he sat through it like a trooper, letting both Tanya and I snap photos from all directions.
Gavin had amazingly huge yawns for such a little guy, and we were also loving his wrinkly little knees!

Congrats again Kareena and Jeff, he is beautiful and we look forward to seeing him again as he grows and changes.

Dyllan - 7 Months

Our little friend Dyllan came back for her 7 month photos and wow has she changed! We last photographed her when she was just a few days old and now she is sitting, talking and flashing her gorgeous smile at our cameras!

Jordan & Vanessa's Wedding

It was a gorgeous day yesterday and we couldn't have spent it with better people! Jordan and Vanessa got married in the Galt Gardens here in downtown Lethbridge, the sun was shining and the ceremony was beautiful!

We shot at a dozen different locations and got some amazing shots with them and we loved their dinner and reception venues at the Shanghai restaurant and the Trianon gallery. Everything about this wedding was unique and very personal to the couple, and I found my heart skipping a beat now and then when I saw how in love they truly are!

Jonathan & Erin's e-session

This last Saturday Jonathan and Erin came into town for their engagement session. We were supposed to do the shoot out on her mom's land, but due to the awful weather we've had this last week, we stayed inside for photos. They probably dressed a little fancier knowing their clothes weren't going to get dirty! They looked so classy and I had a great time taking their photos.

I look forward to doing your wedding this August!

Last week local UFC fighter Jason Day came in for some promotional photos before heading out to fight in England. Once we got the standard needed shots out of the way, we got to play around with lighting for a bit and got some really dramatic effects.

Warren & Amber

Yesterday I got to do a really fun shoot when Warren brought his dog Amber in for some photos. We love photographing animals, and Amber was so sweet. Sometimes she was even a little too laid back because we couldn't get her attention when she had a belly rub in mind.

Chrysline's Maternity photos

On Tuesday Chrysline and her husband Michael came in for maternity photos. She is due in just a few weeks and is absolutely glowing. She has such a beautiful smile!

She brought her A&W uniform in so we also got to do some really fun photos, including this new take on the standard "mom and dad's belly" photo you see in a lot of maternity sessions:

Jason & Kristine

This last weekend Jan and I photographed Kristine and Jason's wedding, and had a great time doing so. It was like being with family; Kristine's mom Verna had us do her wedding last year, and the best man is married to one of my childhood friends. Everyone was so much fun to hang out with all day, and I must say, Kristine's dad looks great in hot pink.

Nathan & Kelly

With wedding season in full swing we had a beautiful wedding on April 26th with Nathan and Kelly. Tanya and I got to shoot this wedding and we had so much fun. The skies were blue, the wind was calm, and the sun was warm, we really couldn't have asked for a nicer day or a cooler couple. We also got to play a little in the studio and had some fun on the white high key back-drop for a change of pace.

WPPI Las Vegas 2008

We’ve been so busy with the onset of wedding season that until now I haven’t had a chance to write about WPPI 2008. Better late than never, right?

In March Sarah and I flew down to Vegas for our first ever WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International) Convention and Tradeshow, leaving the Litwins back in Lethbridge to look after Jaxen.

We arrived a few days early and had the weekend to play around, but I was eagerly awaiting the tradeshow so I could pick up my new 40D (among other goodies).

At the opening reception we got a feel of how big the convention really was – over 20,000 photographers were in attendance!

The Young Guns Show was one of my favorite parts of the convention, featuring some awesome photographers all under 30. I was excited that Mike Larson came ready to do a demo. Last summer we saw this video of Mike’s infamous camera toss, and I was pretty stoked to see it in real life!

You can see how daring (or terrifying!) it is even from where we were sitting in the back. (That object at the top of the photo is the camera, if you couldn't tell.)

The Tradeshow took up a ton of time, and I STILL could have spent an extra day there!

Here is Sarah standing on the new Olympus camera. I tried to talk her into Canon, but to no avail.

At the tradeshow, I ran into familiar faces: Mark from de Jourdan's with his wife Kristina! I never had time to arrange a meetup with them before leaving, so it was quite miraculous to run into them among the thousands of photographers who were there.

Sarah and I both saw some amazing speakers, but my favorite times were when we went out to the strip to try my new camera. We quickly learnt that when you have a camera and a model in Vegas at night, you get a lot of people who think they should be in your photos! Sarah was usually the model, but I took a few turns in front of the camera and even Sarah couldn’t help but admit Canon was great.

We barely slept while we were there but we had a great time, and I’m excited to go back again next year!

Windy City Tattoo Weekend 2008

We had so much fun at last year's convention that we just had to go again! We were only able to attend on Friday this year, and even though attendance was still slow since it wasn't quite the weekend, we still had a great time and met some really cool people, including the one and only Lizardman.

This also was Jaxen's first tattoo convention, so we had to go all out! If you saw a few posts ago, I'm working on turning him into a pirate, so we couldn't resist baby's first tattoo going a little Sailor Jerry (don't worry, it's only temporary :P ).

What a busy week!

It's great to get away from the computer and go out for shoots, and last week was perfect for just that!

Maran and Jordan came in for their e-session on Thursday and we had a great time doing their photos. (Contrary to what they said, they are very photogenic!) Even though it's still far away, I'm looking forward to doing their wedding!

On Friday after the tattoo convention I met up with the Higgins family for some portraits in the river bottom. We haven't seen them since Jocelyn was a year old, and she's grown up so much in that year. She was one of the most well-behaved two year olds I've ever photographed, and I've photographed a lot of two year olds!

Lethbridge Photo Club

I had the honor of being asked to help judge a print competition at the Lethbridge Photography Club. The theme was pet portraits and there was some really cool work there!! My fellow judges were Chris Yauck and Sandra Hoffarth, we had a blast doing the judging and it was really fun to hang out for an evening with some fellow pros as well as a ton of amateurs and hobbyists that had a passion for photography.

Thanks for having me out guys! Any time you want me to come hang out, speak, or judge, I'm there.

Albert & Patti

As Hope said in the blog below, the weather took a turn for the worst this week... but yesterday the weather was beautiful again when I went out with Albert and Patti for their e-session! I had a lot of fun with them, and they were so easy to photograph.

Even if it's not green yet, the River Bottom was a great place to shoot before it gets too overgrown - except for a few deer who were more interested in us than leaving.

Nathan & Kelly

Nathan and Kelly are getting married on April 26th and we managed to sneak in a fun little e-session this evening! The plan was to meet at the park and shoot a nice outdoor session, but a freak little snowstorm kept us in the studio. Luckily we had a little break in the rain and snow and got to sneak out onto the back fire escape for a few shots as well, but this great couple were great sports about being stuck inside for the rest of the session.
This wedding is going to be an awesome kickoff to the wedding season and Tanya and I are really looking forward to the 26th! A huge thank you in advance for allowing us to capture your day for you guys, it is going to be a blast!

Baby Raedyn

I had the pleasure f doing a sweet little newborn baby shoot on Saturday with little Raedyn. She was an adorable, 3 week old little girl with a great head of hair! She was super patient through the session and had no big meltdowns, and thanks to her mom and dad, the session went smoothly and quickly!

I hope that we get to do more sessions with this great family as Raedyn grows.

Job Shadow

Well Tanya finally got her session with Jaxen when we had a quieter afternoon in the studio. We did a job shadow for a high school girl named Larissa and during this time we had a moment to play a little and have some fun! Larissa was great and it was a pleasure to have her into the studio for the day, and all of us girl had some laughs when Jaxen and Tanya started their session.

Here is a portrait Tanya shot of Larissa, our student, she was a great sport and posed for some shots to see what it feels like to be a model.Next, Tanya and Jaxen Took some photos in their matching outfits, Jaxen wore his "i'm a little corny" shirt that Tanya bought him.
And lastly, the greatest fun of them all....the pirate session! Notice that Jaxen is not only making a great piratey scowl, but he also is steering the ship at his invisible helm! Jaxen was also wearing his "pirate in training" shirt.
Who says that we aren't the funnest place to work at?

Greg & Stephanie

This week I had the pleasure of shooting Greg and Stephanie's engagement session. They are obviously very much in love - they were able to get wrapped up with each other, even when there was a bit of an audience in the studio - and were so much fun to photograph. They're getting married this July and I can't wait to photograph their wedding, because I know it'll be a blast!

James and I shot Kareena and Jeff's wedding back in the summer of 2006 and now they are expecting their first child! Of course I was honored that they asked me to help them remember this amazing times in their lives with maternity photo shoot.

Kareena is glowing and looking fantastic, this shoot was really neat to do because I haven't seen Kareena in so long, the changes are amazing (and beautiful).

Thank you guys for coming in for this session, I can't wait to meet the baby!
